Ready to Roll!

I think I’m about ready to roll out this new site! I set up a script to e-mail me whenever something bad breaks. I also added some plug-ins to the weblog. I can’t think of anything else that I might need to implement before pushing things out. It wouldn’t hurt to speed things up a little bit, but I don’t have much control over that.

More on the speed issue…

I can’t tell where the loading delay comes in. Everything runs pretty quickly when called separately. I’m hoping that things might speed up a little bit when I get to put the new server in place (whenever that may be). All I know is that when loading the page, the resources on the server are just fine. My best guess is that it might be the Last.fm recent tracks listing. I’ve changed it to cache for 60 seconds (that will help a little bit). I think I may also change it from being included in-line to being an AJAX post-loader in a div.

…that didn’t seem to help too much. Maybe it’s just my internet connection at home at the moment (it is uploading at near full capacity). I guess I’ll test from work tomorrow. And test it with IE (since I haven’t done that yet). It works flawlessly in FireFox!

It’s 3:30 AM. I need to sleep!
