Back from Green Day

We made it back! That’s a shocker considering I was near-death on the way home. Caffeine and nutrition withdrawal were hitting me pretty hard. I swear I was on the verge of collapse on the drive home. Fortunately, we were able to make it back in an hour and a half thanks to the Volvo’s performance capabilities.

Other than that, the concert was awesome. They started out playing
the American Idiot stuff and then took a crowd break (a break to get
some crowd interaction). Then they started into Dookie with Long
View. They played at least one track off of each of their old albums
(including Kerplunk!). Tre even got off the drums and sang All By
Myself. My favorite part of the concert was probably when they made a
new band on-stage. They brought up some kids out of the audience to
play their instruments. The drummer and bassist were great. The first
guitarist they picked out couldn’t actually play the guitar (but he
wound up taking it home anyways). The second guitarist could play
pretty well for his age. Billy Joe did a song with them and then sent
them back into the crowd, but not without having the drummer boy do a
stage dive into the crowd. My second favorite part was when Billy Joe
asked the crowd to get out all their cell phones and lighters and light
up the place (with all the house lights turned off). It looked like a
clear night sky in there with all the lights. I had my three (two cell
phones and a pager) to do my part. In all, the concert was really fun,
and I’m definitely going to see them again. Next time, I’d like to get
standing "seats" in the floor/general admission. That crowd was a lot
more active and it would have been easier to bounce around than up in
the bleacher seating.

That’s about it (of course there was more),
but I’m tired. I’ve gone three and a half days without caffeine and I
think I’ve finally made it over the "hump". I’m starting to feel

"normal" again. Even though, technically, I haven’t been off caffeine
in my entire life which is a very scary thought. I’ve been under the
influence of a drug ever since I can remember. Wow. It’s almost like
taking the red pill in the Matrix! Oh God, I’m a dork.
