Stoned
Right-oh. I’m pretty doped up. No, it’s legal. After my hospital trip last night, I was prescribed oxycodon for the pain. Yup, it’s another kidney stone. Almost exactly one year from my first one. Same side, too (the left). This one hasn’t been as bad as the first two. I’d say it’s about 75% as bad as the first one. The tubes have been stretched a little, and I know what the pain feels like. I’m starting to become a pro at this. For a while, I thought I could make it through without a hospital visit, but I was wrong. It really started to hurt about halfway into the 2nd period of the Preds vs. Canucks (in Vancouver). So, I decided that since I was watching hockey, I had to be tough. We wound up winning the game in 6 seconds of overtime. I was begging someone to score so that we could leave and go to the hospital. David Legwand came to the rescue 6 seconds into 4-on-4 overtime and put the puck past Auld.
So, with my time off the past couple of days, I’ve been working on a new site. It’s not as extensive as the current one, but it’s prettier. Hopefully I will get it done this weekend. I’ve gotten to the point to where I need to upload it to the server to be able to start playing around with some database-driven stuff and the gallery. I’m going to try a new gallery package so that I (and others) can add titles, comments, etc. As much as I’d like to use the Flickr API and host all my images with their titles, descriptions, dates taken, and dates uploaded (plus user comments, etc), I need something that does directories to keep things organized. Flat-tagging just isn’t suited for galleries of nearly 6,000 pictures. I might be able to do what I want with sets, but I just haven’t played around with it enough. I’m also thinking about replacing Serendipity with WordPress. Not that it’d really make any difference to the site from a reader’s perspective, but it might be easier to administer and embed.
That’s about it for now. I’ve been fighting off sleep for the past 3 hours and have dozed off sitting straight up with my hands on the keyboard a few times already.
