Uncle Sam gave me a lobotomy
That’s right. I think when I turned 18 the government stole half of my brain. I could draw, design, doodle, and even come up with another ‘d’ word for the absolutely awful alliterations. But, the dead air that’s left in my skull can still conjure images of things I’d like to put down on paper or on a monitor. It’s a shame those things don’t add up to something written with a C-style syntax. Otherwise, I’d be golden on my site re-design.
I have come up with an idea for this little bit of the blogosphere. It’s going to be my main content supplier for the aggregation of all that is Munkee’s Internet presence that will eventually become the newest version of PhragMunkee.com. Why let my poor little Sun UltraSparc 30 300MHz RISC processor with only 256MB of RAM generate the content on its own from an already busy MySQL server when I can let somebody else (AKA Josiah/Coptix/TerraBlogs/whoever) generate a static XML/RSS feed and have my site pull it from one rack to another to display. (It’s much more elaborate than that–it passes through two whole switches and four patch panels, too.) So, as long as ChattaBlogs can stay up (how’s that going, Josiah?), the content feed is there. I also plan on storing a cached copy for redundancy.
See, and I can pull all sorts of feeds like that. A bunch of info from Last.fm (my most consistently-updating Internet presence), photos from Flickr (I’m going to write my own gallery script that seamlessly integrates my Flickr photos with my current gallery), and anything else I can dream up to aggregate.
Real fancy and Web 2.0 ninja-like. But, I get writer’s block without a design to go with. And I’m stuck. The end.
