Cover suggestions?
Mon, 30 Oct 2006 17:50:02 +0000
I love covers. I've been listening to a lot of Punk Goes 80s, Punk Goes 90S, and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Don't particularly care for Punk Goes Metal. What else is out there? Anyone know if there's a copy of the Marie de Salle/Lisa Bonet Peter Frampton song from High Fidelity floating around?
Any recommendations? Didn't Newfound Glory used to do some covers? I think I heard a Lagwagon one once. I also know there's Richard Cheese, but I think I'm mainly interested in punk. NOFX did Vincent. The Hippos have a couple. Reel Big Fish did a couple.

Musician a major influence on British psychedelia
LONDON, England (CNN) -- Syd Barrett, the eccentric guitarist who founded Pink Floyd but later left the music business to live quietly and somewhat reclusively, has died at the age of 60, according to a spokeswoman for the band.
A spokeswoman for Pink Floyd told the Press Association: "He died very peacefully a couple of days ago. There will be a private family funeral."

69000 Tracks Played
Tue, 11 Jul 2006 04:21:31 +0000
...since August 5, 2004.
Song #69,000 was Roller Coaster.
Damn that's a lot of music. Green Day is nearly 31% of that.

PandoraFM

Just in case there are any Last.FM users that don't know, PandoraFM fucking rocks. It combines the awesomeness of Pandora with the tracking of Last.FM. And, like Pandora and (mostly) Last.FM, it's free!
Yeah, it sounds like an advertisement, and it basically is. But nobody asked me to do it. I'm just spreading the love.

Day 9 of Less Than Jake's "In With the Out Crowd"
Thu, 1 Jun 2006 06:24:40 +0000
I've listened to the In with the Out Crowd CD at least once a day for the past 9 days. I'm going for the 18 days that I said I would. Day one was growing accustomed to the slightly new style and getting a feel for the new songs. After that, I was rocking out and trying to learn the lyrics. So far, my two favorite songs are Overrated (Everything Is) and The Rest Of My Life. There are a few other songs that I really dig that I have yet to even learn the titles to. I just know about when to anticipate them on the CD and a handful of the lyrics. I'll be breaking out the CD case this weekend to browse through the lyrics as I listen to the CD.
I'll post more soon. At least after the 18 days are up.

Hootie
Thu, 11 May 2006 04:43:57 +0000
This past week, I randomly got a Hootie and the Blowfish song stuck in my head. It bugged me so much, I bought their Best Of CD. After listening to it a few times, I realized those guys were really good. I never disliked the band, I just never appreciated them as much as I should have. It's probably because everyone else in my social circle was making fun of them just for the name.
Those people were retarded.

Absolution for Idiots and Addicts
Mon, 20 Mar 2006 07:14:10 +0000
I just broke down and installed iTunes. I hate it, but I had to get it. Within 60 seconds of registering, I even purchased an album (obviously, I was on a mission from God). I snagged the Absolution for Idiots and Addicts EP by Less Than Jake. It contains four tracks that will be on the full In With the Out Crowd CD due out in May. The tracks on the EP are:
1. Overrated (Everything Is)
- A "poppy", catchy tune. I liked it from the first play, although I don't agree with the classic rock line. The style is similar to what you would find on their Losing Streak CD (almost, but not quite).
2. Negative Sides of Optimistic Eyes
- Ahh.. there's the horn! Style reminds me of the Borders & Boundaries CD.
3. We, the Uninspired
- More horns! Definitely good old ska. Sounds like something off of Hello Rockview.
4. The Rest of My Life
- A bit depressing. Something that could have made the cut for Anthem CD, but wasn't written in time. Definitely fits the "mood" of the CD.
You may agree or disagree, but it's definitely not a let down for any Less Than Jake fan. It's different, but has more of a classic Less Than Jake feel than something like Anthem did. It's similar to their past CDs, but definitely different. For $3.96, snag it on iTunes. Now, I have to wait until May for the full CD!
Some links for you:
- Absolution for Idiots and Addicts on iTunes
- Less Than Jake on MySpace (has the Overrated (Everything Is) and a few other videos)
Oh, and Vinnie, if you ever read this. Trust me, when I get my hands on that CD, I will listen to it AT LEAST once a day for 18 days straight. If you look at how many times I've listened to Green Day, you will see that I'm perfectly capable.

Goodbye, old neighbor
Mon, 20 Mar 2006 06:17:47 +0000
For the longest time, DK10 had been my Last.fm neighbor. For probably close to a year or maybe even more. I haven't checked in the last couple of weeks, but I know he was there then. And, now, he's gone. It's kinda sad really. I even thought we kinda looked alike.
Here's to hoping we will be neighbors again some day. I'm even listening to Brand New now after checking out his recently played profile.

Goldec asked me to post more...
Mon, 20 Mar 2006 06:11:15 +0000
So, umm, here's a post. I finally broke 20k Green Day plays. Other than that, there's not much to post about other than I just realized how messed up my music tastes are. I went from listening to Green Day to some punk to Elton John. Blah blah blah. Elton John is gay. Yes, we all know. And he's one of the greatest artists to have ever lived. Period.
Less Than 100 Plays!
Tue, 14 Mar 2006 05:06:00 +0000
I have less than 100 plays (currently sitting at 19,913) to go until I break the 20,000-play mark for Green Day. I haven't been keeping track much, but I'm pretty sure I'm probably still on top of the Green Day charts (probably Weezer as well). I wonder how many else...
[EDIT] Well, looks like Angelcrusherex has surpassed me. That's just sick. [/EDIT]
